I didn't think of this idea, but whoever came up with it first deserves a really big high-five!

I first saw the concept of wine ice cream on Mercer's Dairy's web site. How I ended up on that site, I have no idea, but once I saw the different ice creams that they make with wine, I just had to take a shot at making my own.

So I did some quick Googling and found a recipe that looked pretty easy at BBCGoodFood.com. I gave it a try, then adapted it to better fit my liking!

My big decision for this recipe was to determine the variety of wine to use. I thought about a Zinfandel, or a Riesling. But in the end, I decided to use a Moscato from CK Mondavi, one of my favorite winemakers. It has such a nicely crisp and slightly sweet flavor, I thought it would be perfect in an ice cream.

I know it isn't summer yet, but I am already dreaming of some of the things I would like to do in warmer weather.

Right now I am fantasizing about eating this ice cream while lounging in the sun on a boat floating around on Lake Wallenpaupack, where we like to spend time with our friends on lazy summer weekends.

But, since that scene won't happen for another few months, there's no reason I can't enjoy this today! Ice cream is delightful year round, right? And ice cream with wine is da bomb!

Well, go ahead and try it and let me know what you think!
